I'm Daniel. I'm a senior software engineer at Rippling, where I build B2B product and platform systems across compliance automation, auth boundaries, and data workflows.

Most of my work at Rippling has been on Automated Compliance, the product that helps companies track compliance controls, evidence, and workflow state across supported frameworks. I led monitor-side backend work across evidence paths, detection/runtime scale, and report-backed automation within the control/monitor split. That work has included monitor evaluation over 5M+ rows, report-backed automation covering roughly 60% of then-scoped SOC 2 control and evidence requirements, IAM-backed report integration, policy lifecycle state, and manual-evidence paths. Before that I spent my first year on the Identity team, which gave me the foundation for later compliance-platform ownership.

Selected Work

The projects page has the detailed writeups. The pattern across them is product infrastructure that makes workflows easier to trust and operate. That shows up in monitor-backed evidence, explicit policy lifecycle states, content changes that no longer need full engineering releases, cloud-resource evidence pipelines, and auth rollouts with tighter control.

How I Work Now

The harder scoping moments came after the technical path looked possible. In 2025, I pushed content versioning further than the immediate use cases needed, and the migration missed its one-sprint target. I also shipped an exploratory quick-filters proof of concept for monitors that proved brittle; the team later rebuilt the cleaner version. Since then, I write down the product risk before hardening an abstraction, keep first versions easier to delete, and wait for a real use case before adding generality.

Personal Projects

Outside work, I build tools for my own use: relationship planning, knowledge management, market research, and real-estate scouting. I like projects that force the whole loop into view: data ingestion, product judgment, interface design, deployment, and the boring maintenance work that decides whether a tool stays useful.

Interests

Finance and economics

I spend a lot of time thinking about markets, investment strategy, and the psychology that sits underneath both. I track where incentives, durable value, and short-term behavior disagree.

Writing and mental models

I'm writing a book about time, attention, and how ordinary choices accumulate into the life you remember. It is a slow project by design. I want the ideas to settle before I ship them.

Photography and food

I shoot on a Fujifilm X-T5 and keep structured food and travel notes. Part documentation, part design study. Light, texture, and how spaces feel.
